Private visa is to be given to foreign citizens entering Russia as a guest, being invited by Russian citizen (applicant's friend or relative) or by foreign citizen obtaining the residence permit. This invitation ("Priglashenie") is an official document that can be obtained by applicant's relatives or friends in a Local Visa Office of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Another reason of applying private visa is a necessity of applicant's urgent medical treatment or serious illness or death of an applicant's relative.

Private visa can be valid for the period up to 3 months only. And it can be either single-entry or double-entry.

To apply for the private visa an applicant should submit to the Consulate General the following documents:

1.      Original letter of invitation ("Priglashenie") issued by a Local Local Federal Migration Service of the Russian Federation of the Russian Federation. ATTENTION! No copies are accepted! (The invitation must be on stamped paper and contain full name of the invited person, his or her date of birth, passport number, duration of stay in Russia and cities to be visited. The invitation must be signed and sealed by authorized people).

ATTENTION! To apply private visa instead of the invitation an applicant may also show medical documents approving the necessity of urgent treatment or serious illness or death of an applicant's relative.

2.      Valid foreign passport (original only and it should have at least 2 clear visa pages). It must be valid not less than 6 months after the visa expiration date.

3.      Completed visa application form, signed by an applicant only. All information must be filled in English.

4.      1 photo (3x4, mat).

5.      Medical insurance.


REMEMBER! All documents should be submitted not less, than 5 business days prior to the entry to the Russian Federation!
